Dr. James V. Twede is a dedicated and caring dermatologist who truly enjoys his work and strives to provide the highest quality care to his patients. He is a Board-Certified Dermatologist and Board-Certified Micrographic and Dermatologic Surgeon by the American Board of Dermatology. He received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Utah and his Doctor of Medicine from the Uniformed Services University. He graduated in the top tier of his class and received the Emma M. Bockman Award for research excellence. He completed his residency training at the prestigious Walter Reed Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, where he received the Medical Dermatology Mentorship Award, American Society of Dermatologic Surgery Preceptor Award and, in his final year, severed as the Chief Resident. After residency, he served in the US Army as a dermatologist at the Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, Colorado. While he was there, he served as the chief of dermatology and medical subspecialty clinics and served as an adjunct faculty member at the Academy of Health Sciences Graduate School. He received numerous awards for patient satisfaction and productivity and was selected as the preceptor of the year for his educational and mentoring efforts of physician assistant students. Upon completion of his military commitment, he went on to complete a fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and dermatologic oncology at the esteemed Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Dr. Twede specializes in Mohs surgery and the medical and surgical treatment of skin cancer. As of 2024, he has performed over 30,000 Mohs procedures and skin cancer excisions. Dr. Twede is a stickler for perfection for completely removing skin cancer and cosmetic outcomes. He has performed over 20,000 vascular and scar resurfacing laser treatments, skills he brings to bear for his Mohs surgery patients to achieve the highest possible aesthetic outcome. He has published numerous dermatologic journal manuscripts and given multiple national and local academic presentations. He focuses intently on preventing and treating skin surgery infections and has authored an academic textbook chapter on the subject.
When not at the office, Dr. Twede enjoys mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding, basketball, and tennis with his wife and two children.
