David Harston is a founding partner at Elkind Alterman Harston PC and has been practicing immigration law since 1999. Mr. Harston was selected by his peers as Best Lawyers® 2017 and 2019 “Lawyer of the Year” for Immigration Law in the Denver metro area and has been listed in Best Lawyers® and Super Lawyers® in the field of immigration law since 2015. He served on the AILA Colorado Chapter’s Executive Committee from 2004 to 2009 and was the Chapter Chair for AILA Colorado from 2007-2008. Mr. Harston served as the Chair of the AILA Colorado Liaison Committee for the Denver Field Office of U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services (2012-13) and was a member of the committee from 2010 to 2014. He also served on the Colorado Bar Association’s Executive Council for the Immigration Law Section (2009-11) and served as the Section Chair (2009-10). Mr. Harston is one of the Managing Editors for Immigration Law for the Colorado Practitioner, a 40+ chapter book published by the CBA-CLE. He has been a speaker and panelist at national and regional immigration law conferences including the American Immigration Lawyers Association National Conference in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2019. He graduated from the University of Denver with a law degree and a master’s degree in International Studies. While a graduate student, Mr. Harston interned in the Human Rights Program at the Carter Center in Atlanta, founded by former President Jimmy Carter and former First Lady Rosalynn Carter.
