Areas of Practice

Kristen M. Frost is an experienced trial lawyer who brings determination, skill and success to individual and corporate clients facing a myriad of legal issues. She specializes in white collar and criminal antitrust matters and in general criminal defense in various jurisdictions. She has tried numerous complex cases as lead counsel in federal court, throughout Colorado and in Illinois and Virginia.

Kristen’s advocacy is not defined by successful jury verdicts alone. It involves high level strategy and hard fought battles to secure dismissal of cases before charges are filed and by way of litigation and complex motions practice after indictment. Recently, Kristen obtained the dismissal of charges in several high profile matters, including a case where she led the RMW team that secured the dismissal of an indictment charging a wide-ranging conspiracy to fix prices and rig bids for broiler chicken products brought by the Department of Justice Antitrust Division.

Kristen has represented clients during all aspects of a case, from pre-trial representation during the investigation phase, after indictment, at trial, during post-conviction proceedings and on appeal. She has argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the Colorado Court of Appeals, the Illinois Appellate Court and the Illinois Prisoner Review Board. She has defended professionals before the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies and the Colorado Supreme Court Attorney Regulation Counsel.

Kristen is a member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel and is currently a member of the Standing Committee. She is a frequent lecturer on various legal topics, including federal constitutional issues and federal motions and trial practice, white collar and antitrust issues, trial advocacy and international criminal law. She has been a panelist at various conferences, including the American Bar Association Antitrust International Cartel Workshop, the Cambridge Forum White Collar Conference and the Lightfoot Annual White Collar Institute. She has lectured for the Criminal Justice Act Panel, the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar Association, the Colorado State Public Defenders and has taught at the University of Colorado, the University of Denver and the Siracusa Institute.

She has been recognized as a leading defense and trial attorney by Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, Colorado Law Week and as a Top Lawyer by 5280 Magazine.

Before joining RMW, Kristen was a private defense attorney in Chicago and then became a Colorado Deputy State Public Defender. After law school, Kristen completed a post-graduate fellowship in international criminal law and human rights law at the Siracusa Institute in Italy, working with Professor M. Cherif Bassiouni. As a fellow, she worked on post-conflict justice and accountability projects involving Afghanistan and Iraq, drafted reports for the United Nations and other non-governmental organizations, and participated in local legal initiatives sponsored by the region of Sicily and the Italian government.

Kristen is known by her clients and colleagues alike as a client-centered professional who brings dedication, understanding and tireless effort in order to produce the best results for her clients.
